The annual Pacific Parkinson’s Research Institute Scientific Update again showcased the amazing research being conducted at UBC. This year the spotlight was turned on the outstanding young researchers in the PPRI team. Presentations covered novel treatment projects, with many teams looking at different, non-invasive means of treating Parkinson’s symptoms. We also had an update on the studies we have helped fund on exercise and non-invasive electrical stimulation. Dr. McKeown gave a broad overview of the many areas the Institute is exploring, and Dr. Cresswell introduced a significant new study into the relationship of microbiomes and Parkinson’s Disease.
